Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to a report of smoke in a building early Tuesday morning at 1248 Glacier Ave., according to a social media post from CCFR. There were no injuries reported.

Fire personnel found visible smoke on the second floor near the back portion of the building, which had spread throughout the entire building and activated the sprinkler system and smoke alarms, according to CCFR. Personnel were able to shut off the sprinkler system and use portable fans to help ventilate the smoke from the building.

The area of origin was determined to be an indoor sauna unit on the second floor. The sauna heater, interior light, thermostat and electrical control unit were all seized as evidence for the investigation to help determine the cause. The exact cause is undetermined, however, it is not thought to be intentional at this time, according to CCFR.

It is unknown how long the businesses associated with the structure would be closed. The building was insured as well as the tenant spaces and damages are estimated at approximately $100,000.
