Nestled within one of the most instagrammed locations in Bath lies the honey-hued Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa, an enchanting hotel famed for 250 years of consistently first-class service. It’s one of the only landmark buildings in the world you can actually sleep in, and should that not be enough to tempt you, their latest Jubilee package will.

The crème de la crème as far as location is concerned, the crescent is a stylish residential stretch with no passing traffic—and the hotel lies centre stage, overlooking the lawns of Royal Victoria Park. Bath’s charming centre is a mere five minutes’ walk away, so you’re not too far from the hustle and bustle, should you wish to soak up the Roman history or, who knows, have a night out on the tiles.

Forty-five bedrooms are scattered across the two conjoined townhouses and in the buildings at the back of the garden. Sufficiently “Regencycore” to satisfy every Bridgerton whim, rooms vary from palatial suites adorned with stuccoed ceilings, oil paintings and elaborate fireplaces to more affordable option. Though less lavishly decorated and slightly cosier, these are very agreeable indeed. Dainty cakes, chilled bubbles and fresh spring water from the nearby Mendips are presented when you arrive, plus your name is handwritten on a card on your door for that personal touch. If you really want to push the boat out, book the Nelson Suite, which has a large balcony overlooking an acre of glorious gardens—just think of that morning coffee.

Given the choice of going à la carte at The Dower House restaurant or trying the six course tasting menu, it’s difficult to resist going all out, especially when egged on by the lovely Jack. Led by culinary genius Martin Blake, the hotel’s team of chefs is passionate about using fresh, locally sourced produce to create a tantalising range of signature dishes. V.F. started with the Ale bread with Ivy House Farm Butter, before moving on to beetroot salad with smoked eel (who knew they go together?) and exquisite Exmoor venison with a chocolate and sloe gin jus. But what’s a tasting menu without the vino? Wine buff Jean-Marc Leitao has you covered; let him lead the way with a Lirac or a La Justice Domaine Antonin Guyon.

Tucked in the luscious gardens lies the converted coach house, decked out in light wood and honey-hued bath stone with fresh flowers adorning every surface to create a super-fresh oasis. But do not be fooled by the size—this tardis-like interior still manages to fit an impressive 12-metre heated relaxation pool, a vitality pool with massage jets, a sauna, a steam room and a fully equipped gym. The treatment menu is almost as impressive as the tasting menu, so choose from facials, massages, body scrubs or a mani-pedi for some much-needed R&R. Top all of that off with a glass of champagne in the Tattinger Garden in your fluffy robe and slippers, soaking up the rays while sipping yourself into total bliss. We are pretty sure this is what heaven looks like.

Jubilee Joy Package—price starts from £530 per room per night, in a Deluxe double room, based on a two night package.
