MARSHALL — Kevin and Jenny Greenhoff are taking sauna based physical fitness to a higher level in the Marshall area.

They operate Well Suite; a business that specializes in saunas, heat wraps and foot detoxing. They opened in August on Sherman Avenue near Avera Marshall’s Carlson Street clinic.

They chose to open their own business because of Jenny’s positive experiences with detoxing therapies. She has faced fibromyalgia for 17 years and is also a breast cancer survivor.

“We wanted to bring detoxing health treatment to Marshall area residents,” Jenny said. “It’s a low cost option for preventive health. It’s different for everyone. The benefits depend on someone’s health status.”

Some of the health conditions that could be mitigated through detoxing therapy include arthritis, high blood pressure, skin issues, sleep disorders and stress management concerns.

Sauna sessions, heat wraps and foot detoxing stimulate the body’s natural restoration abilities. They lead to better daily routines and therefore better health.

“It allows the body to work better,” Jenny said. “People sleep better. They’re more able to cope with stress. That can lead to improvements in personal health.”

Kevin has spent most of his career as an electrician. He completed all the electrical work in the Well Suite business space, ensuring that temperature control will be well suited to sauna users.

They did extensive research before launching the business, which included talking to equipment manufacturers to get the best, most well-rounded items for their facility.

Jenny said they’re having good luck creating awareness of their new business. They benefit from word-of-mouth, social media and recommendations from chiropractors, message therapists and salon owners.

“It’s a good option for people, something that might be more practical than having a sauna at home,” she said. “Many people have limited budgets. They also might not have enough space.”

Customers are told to come to appointments well-hydrated and to wear comfortable sweat clothes. Sessions normally last for 15 to 30 minutes. They’re followed by additional time spent in the Well Suite recovery room to allow for a gradual cool down.

“It’s important to cool down gradually, not too fast,” Kevin said. “We encourage everyone to drink water at room temperature. The cool down helps as far as getting the most benefit from each session.”

Most customers have sessions either once or twice a week. At least a weekly routine is considered necessary to get full advantages of detoxing therapy.

“It’s important to make the sessions a frequent part of the routine,” Jenny said. “With home saunas, it’s easy to get out of the habit. Staying with it leads to the most benefit. We’re here to help.”

Marshall Chamber of Commerce Director Brad Gruhot, who recently welcomed the Greenhoffs as new Chamber members, said they’re giving Marshall its first specialized detoxing therapy business.

“It’s something we’ve never had before,” Gruhot said. “I think it’s likely to get public interest. People enjoy saunas and see them as a way to get valuable health benefits.”
