Buyers in search of the life aquatic may find themselves drawn to an unusual custom property in St. Louis that has eye-catching amenities, including a diving pond and fish tanks large enough to snorkel in.
“Everything in the house is built around [the seller’s] kids, who they home schooled,” said Wayne Norwood of Janet McAfee Real Estate, who is representing the listing along with business partner Ben Patton.
“They built aquariums deep enough so you can put on snorkels and physically get in there and interact with the fish,” he said. “In lieu of a pool, they did a natural pond that you can actually dive into and swim with fish. It’s very unusual.”

The six-bedroom, 12,000-square-foot home sits on 1.6 acres in the wealthy St. Louis suburb of Frontenac. Other amenities include a spacious basement gym with a sauna and hot tub, billiard and game rooms, and numerous office and study spaces, per the listing.
“It’s an amazingly functional house, and it’s also extremely simple,” Mr. Norwood said. “They wanted every space in the house to be usable. [The sellers] were wise enough to design the house so the rooms that were built can flex and be used as a second office, or a study room.”

Multiple rooms have built-in wooden bookshelves, according to listing photos, and the home features large windows and abundant natural light throughout, including in a spacious open kitchen with two kitchen islands as well as a breakfast seating area with bay windows overlooking the property. Outdoors, a patio overlooks the diving pond.
The sellers, who run “a variety of businesses” including test and exam prep for students, Mr. Norwood said—purchased the land in 2013, according to records on PropertyShark. They were not immediately available for comment. The home was most recently listed for $3.65 million in 2020, before being relisted on May 27 of this year.
