The former Gucci Mansion, where Tom Ford spent the height of his career as the brand's creative director, is now for sale on Mayfair's Grafton Street for an eye-watering £55 million.

The Grade I listed palatial property, measuring approximately 14,000 sq ft, was designed between 1769-1772 by architect Sir Robert Taylor and built by Edward Gray. Once the home of Lord Chancellor Lord Brougham, it first became a base for the fashion brand in 1998 after Maurizio Gucci was shot dead by his ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani Gucci, in the lobby of Gucci's Milan offices.

Situated just a stone's throw from Gucci's Bond Street store, Grafton Street quickly became the headquarters for Tom Ford and Domenico De Sole so the brand could benefit from a fresh identity and leave the tragic past behind.

As you might imagine, the house is a real head-turner. The Neoclassical mansion was given an extensive 24-month refurbishment project prior to Tom Ford's arrival, with changes including rooms dressed in Gucci custom-designed furniture (there are chocolate veneer desks and black calfskin sofas), as well as a lift, gym, cinema, and health suite with its own swimming pool, marble-lined plunge pool, sauna and steam room.

Spread across six floors, there are also four VIP bedroom suites, four further staff bedrooms, staff facilities, a spacious garden terrace, first floor balconies, and a sun room/conservatory on the top floor. It really does have all the luxuries of the mega-rich.

But that's not all: the ground floor has two state rooms with ornate ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, original Georgian fireplaces and parquet flooring. Meanwhile, the second and third floors were once the offices for Gucci CFO Bob Singer, seven staff employed in the brand's PR and image department, human resources, legal and the IT department.

You'll also find a stunning first floor drawing room, complete with a magnificent 20ft high gold-leaf ceiling, beautiful wooden flooring and roaring fireplaces. Tom Ford's former office and creative space, the designer once hosted Alexander McQueen and legendary Vogue editor Anna Wintour here.

'The former Gucci mansion, the brand's global HQ, is now Mayfair's finest house currently for sale or let. It is here that Tom Ford and Domenico De Sole entertained Alexander McQueen, Anna Wintour and François Pinault and where Lord Chancellor Lord Brougham entertained Queen Victoria and the Duke of Wellington,' says Gary Hersham, Founding Director of Beauchamp Estates.

'Immaculately dressed this turn-key mansion with its two floors of entertainment and leisure facilities is perfect for a family who like Gucci want a palatial residence in the heart of Mayfair.'
