With summer just about here, many folks are looking for that right get-fit workout or to try something different to shake up their routine.

HOTWORX is changing the game in the workout industry, and locations are certainly heating up in Southeast Louisiana.

"There is no fitness studio like this in the world," Carla Pesono, the Creative Director for HOTWORX said.

"It really has achieved for our customers more workout in less time, that's sort of our motto," Steve Smith, CEO of HOTWORX, said.

It's 24/7 access that goes far beyond hot yoga.

"The idea is for three people to go inside the sauna and through virtual instruction which you see on the screen, practice either a 30-minute isometric workout in the infrared heat at about 125 degrees," Smith said.

"But there's also HIIT workouts, which is high-intensity interval training, like hot cycle, hot blast and hot thunder, which is our newest workout," Pesono said.

It's the variety of exercises, combined with infrared heat technology and patented saunas that provides a unique experience.

"It's not just about working out, it's the way you feel after," Pesono said. "And it's different than anything you'll ever experience. Anti-aging, inflammation, helps with pain relief, muscle recovery."

"I call it the recovery workout. It's the only workout I know of out there that allows you to recover from the workout that you are actually doing at that time," Smith said.

Kalee Greenidge is a former collegiate athlete who says HOTWORX is like going to a spa.

"I really love how it reduces my stress level after my work day," Greenidge said. "I just feel so much looser, my stress levels are low and my skin is just glowing."

Keith Thornblom is a jujitsu competitor training in martial arts.

"The day after training I would always be very sore, and as an older competitor, as an older trainer, I need that kinda extra recovery so the sauna, the infrared sauna provided that," Thornblom said.

Originated in Oxford, Mississippi, but headquartered in Marrero, Louisiana, this national brand is rapidly growing throughout the New Orleans metro area with 10 locations and plans for Mid-City and Uptown in the works.

"With the workouts, the concept and the hospitality, that's really what draws and keeps our customers coming back," Smith said.

Customers of all backgrounds, including some professionals you may spot in the sauna next to you.

"It really is for everyone because you have the privacy of being by yourself if you want to be alone or you can be with others in a group that pushes you. Being an athlete myself I feel like I have that competitive edge back. My husband plays for the Saints and also comes in, and he loves the HIIT workouts," Greenidge said.
